This new release on Cpo presents Orff's versions of works by the Italian master of the early Baroque, written during the years 1923 to 1941 in which Orff called his 'years of apprenticeship with Monteverdi'. It had not been his intention to produce 'a historical arrangement' but to find his own style with reference to a masterpiece of the past.
