BACH, C.P.E.: Cello Concertos, Wq. 170-172

The Naxos debut of one of Britain's finest younger generation cellists, Tim Hugh. He presently holds the position of co-leader of the London Symphony Orchestra cellos, and has an active solo career. He is now an exclusive Naxos artist, and his future releases will include the Bliss Cello Concerto, the Britten Cello Suites, and the complete Boccherini Cello Concertos.
The fine CPE Bach Concertos - three in number - come from the 1750s. They are transcriptions of works originally written for harpsichord and strings, and were later made into flute concertos. Well you might as well earn three times for the same work!
There are only two other discs generally available world wide which couple all three concertos, and none at budget price, so we have this part of the market to ourselves.
