All the works on this disc are world premi?®re recordings. Lorenzo Palomo is one of the most successful contemporary Spanish composers. His 'Cantos del alma' (Songs of the Soul) are settings of four poems by Juan Ram??n Jim?®nez, \a composition in which voice, clarinet and orchestra... establish a poetic dialogue, both intimate and idyllic . Palomo s Sinfon?¡a a Granada (Granada Symphony) was written in response to a commission from the area's regional government. The composer himself has written, "I have been faithful to the most authentic Andalusian music, introducing a number of Arabic and Hebraic melismas as well as cadences characteristic of flamenco"."
